I "Think" I have this whipped, I put on a new cap today, on the drive home from work i was lugging it up a long steep hill and keeping EGT's as high as possable as long as possable to recreate the problem, the temp gauge never moved off of 1/4 normal operating range.
After doing all this work and BS it looks like it was a bad cap all this time.

Good to hear that you have it solved. Sorry we couldn't help you sooner. At least you have some new stuff and some good spares. These engines go a long time so eventually you'll need those parts again.
On a side note, (and this is complete speculation...), I think the caps may have a built in pop top or something similar the provides a hint there may be a problem. Sorta like the same thing you find on bottled drinks (the metal cap has a little button that pops up once the cap is unscrewed for the first time). I noticed that my original (bad) cap had some give when I pressed down on the label while the brand new cap was nice and solid. Not sure if that means anything, but I would be curious to know if you have the same thing on your end. Do you have your old cap? If so, can you try pressing down on the label and see if you have some play and then check your new cap and see if it is solid?
This might help some others who may be having a similar problem in the future.

Thanks for checking your old cap...it was just a hunch about the pop top thing.
On the bright side, your truck smokes the heck out of those tires!
