Mod completed, thanks

Upfitter switches installed, high idle mod completed, worked first time and every time I tried it. Took about 2 hours. Would have been a lot faster except I had to keep going in for a massage on my back from some of the positions I got in under the dash. That chit is hard on an old man. Thanks to all who sent me links to the directions, and thanks to Ed the parts guy who got me the stuff pretty quickly considering the holiday and how far apart we are. That is one of the reasons I've stayed on here coming up 10 years soon. Every time I've needed help I've been able to network on here and get it. Thanks again

Now if Ed would have installed it for you, then all would have been right in world.

Mr. Stanley Z, can you please tell me more about what you did, and why? I am interested in something I know nothing about right now

Sure, what I did was install the mod to provide a 1200RPM idle at my discreation, I wanted it so I could have the truck at high idle and run the AC while I eat lunch. You see, we travel and we have a "spoiled rotten dog" and I don't have the meaness to leave him in a hot truck. My truck did not have the upfitter switches and so the first thing i did was to order the switches and wire harness from the FTE parts guy, then I did the mod. If you are interested in doing it go to the search bar and put "high idle" in and look in the 6.4L forum. It's all there, or come back here and ask for help and I'll see if I can figure out a link and if I can't some of these computer savy guys will.

My truck already has the Upfitter switches, so I am going to do that ASAP. I like to let my truck idle also, and the high idle mod is perfect.

As for your "Spoiled Rotten dog", it seems animals have more rights than you and I these days... Thanks again...

I wired my right upfitter switch to operate my driving lamps on. I like them to stay on with the high beams (rather than going off w/ high beams); and I like them on in the daytime for DRL.

So I did the search, and didn't find what I was looking for. Is there a step by step process on how to connect it to Upfitter switch #1? Thank you...

They do around my house, at least the dog does. Did you find the instructions? It's really easy, just use #4 upfitter which is the brown wire, and cross it to the yellow wire with green tracer. Both wires are found right above the emergency brake. Pull the panel off from below the steering colume, it's a little stiff but will come off with some effort. The brown is in a small bundle (4 wires) and the yellow is in the bundle of 12 wires or so attached to the main group of wires just above the emergency brake.

High Idle Mod, DONE!!!! Thanks Stanley, your instructions were easy to follow. Took me 20 minutes to do, NICE.. My only question, is why switch #4, and not #1?

I forget all the amps for the switches but I think #4 was the lowest rated switch, that way you save the heavy duty switches for some big lights.

This may be a stupid question, but why is it helpful to have the truck idle at a higher rpm. Is it to keep it from clogging up the particulate filter?

Greetings. New to this forum, but have been reading in for a while. I saw this mod and it looked like what I was looking for. I have a 2008 350SD equipped with the upfitter switches.
Well I hooked up the brown wire from #4 switch to the yellow wire w/ green tracer and ..... nothing happens when I turn it on. Is there another element to this that I may have missed? I did verify that my connection is good, (power both sides of connection when switch is on).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Jeff
