Weird question
So a rather frustrating thing happened today... I was working on my brakes replacing the lines at the rear on my 79 150 with my little brother helping me, simultaneously doing an oil change. While i was bending the brake lines under the truck i asked my brother to starting putting oil back in the truck and he dumped it down, what i think is the power steering inlet, but am not completely sure. Now im in a bit of a bind because im not completely sure what this inlet goes to and want to make sure. i need to know what i need to do to fix this before it screws anything up.. Its a black reservoir that says, only add proper fluid, on the right side of the engine, if i were looking at it. Does anyone have a guess at what this is? im going to get a pic up tomorrow morning, i hope, but i wanted to see if anyone has a thought at what it could be and how i should go about taking care of this..
Thanks,
Dave
couldn't have been a full quart, it would overflow..........
remove the return hose and let it drain, then refill with the proper power steering fluid
doubt it will hurt anything or ever be noticeable, other than the mess
If it's the drivers side at the front of the engine, it's the power steering pump. Motor oil, not a big deal. Pull the return line from the reservior, drain what you can, put the line back on and top off the fluid, then don't worry about it.
