The compressor is a little loud, but won't run that often, so the noise in the cab isn't too much of a concern for me. I figured as long as it won't get too hot and its safe to put behind the seat, that should help with the noise a little also. I've got some heavy rubber matting I can install with it to help with the vibration. Another thought is to mount it on the side of my toolbox in the bed. That way, its still covered and better protected from the elements, can get clean air, and its out of the cab so noise should be a lot less. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.

If the tank is outside the cab it will run alot. In the cold months mine would come on almost daily with air contracting when it got cold.and warming up .. i had no leaks as during the summer it might come on every 2 weeks if i didnt use the horn

I hadn't considered the expansion and contraction of the air due to temps, but I guess it shouldn't have much more effect because the truck isn't garaged anyway so the outside temp would remain more constant than the cab temp with the heat and A/C being used. The tank is 5 gal, so its gotta be mounted outside. I'm still toying with the decision of behind the seat or on the side of the tool box. I'll let you guys know what I finally come up with and the results. It'll probably be another week or so before I get it done anyway.

I mounted my compressor and tank in part of my tool box, drilled some holes to run the power, and a hole to run the tubing through the side of the bed and down between the inner and outer wall of the bed. mounted my horns to the forward crossmember support of the bed pointing straight down. cant hear the compressor run at all, protected from the weather, and does not over-heat or starve for air.

That sounds like a good idea also. I'm still leaning toward the interior install for the compressor if I can. I've already got #4 wire into the cab that I can use to power the compressor since it won't run that often and would make the install a little easier. If not, the toolbox is the next option. My horns are going to have to ride along the frame rail, they won't fit vertically. They're 25" long. Probably another week or so before I get to installing the stuff, but once I'm done, I'll definitely post some pics.
