Injector Replacement

Last week, I had 4 injectors fail because the lift pump went out. Not covered under warranty. Ford says for 4 injectors and a new lift pump will be $2,200. Put since I'm a "Loyal" customer, they will pay half. I'm at 91,000 miles and do not want to put factory injectors back in, they just havent held up. I'm going to be putting an Air Dog 2, as well as RCD 180mm injectors.

Does anyone have a write up on how to change injectors? I know once you get to them, its just romoving the hold down bolt and it comes right out. But what do I need to remove first so I can get to them?

Thanks guys.

And I didnt find and pictures on it, so when I change them I plan on taking pics and some videos.

There is a write-up in the 6.0 tech folder at the beginning of this forum. Why isn't it covered under warranty?????? Not from mileage or time that's for sure. Maybe you need to find a different dealership????

the frame mount lift pump is also covered under warranty. damage related to a covered failed part is also covered with ford warranty. Now if you have failed to change filters or have excessive water in fuel causing those issues then its on you.

I always forget about the tech folder!! lol. I know that if I fight this, I will win. But this is kinda minda chance to put in good injectors and a fuel pump. I'm at 90,000 so I'm not really worried about saving my warranty. I do believe though that it should be covered.

Cool, I found the intructions. What should I use for this?

"A special tool to disconnect the feed line from the rail allows you to remove the rail completely which is convenient. "

AD2 is a very simple install. The kit is extremely well put together with minimal cutting/splicing. I don't believe that any of the factory connections are altered in any way that wouldn't allow reverting the truck easily back to stock. The wiring harness comes with complete instructions, but since I already had wiring in place from my FASS I used that. I did use the factory fuel pump wires to trigger a relay to run the A/M fuel pump so that it would operate exactly like the factory pump at key on/off. Be prepared to lower the fuel tank to disconnect/connect the fuel pump supply hose. IIRC the return from the AD2 has been changed to an easier install and I am not sure of the new connection.

Where are the fuel pump and headlight relays located?

I am wanting to add a cutoff switch at the relays for my alarm system.

If someone breaks in and bypasses the alarm somehow, they won't drive off without lights at night, and it won't start without fuel.

The relays are on the outboard right beside the power brake booster.

BTW my lift pump was covered under the 5/100,000 I would talk to customer care at ford.

I have them...don't want them.

I would rather they get into my truck without damaging the sheetmetal, and prevent them from taking it.
