Backup Camera causing RF interference FOB dont work

I installed a few months back a Peak Brand Backup Camera in my Excursion has worked great no problem with picture but my keyless FOB stopped working as well as static on the radio. I don't remember how soon I had these problems but it took time it did not all go at once. I know it is the monitor portion of the system because the transmitter only has power when in reverse but the monitor is always on. I can unplug the power from the monitor and everything works. Right now I have power pulled direct from my overhead console. I am willing to power the monitor from the backup lights so I only have the interference in reverse, but where can I pull power from in the dash without having to run power from the taillights.

You certainly have backup light power available under the hood - and there are pass-through wires if you don't want to look for a way to run your own wire through the firewall.

I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me, but the first place I would check for backup light power would be the fuze for the backup lights. See if the power is being switched before or after the fuze (unfortunately it is probably switched after the fuze, but that is still the easiest place to check so check there first).

If that doesn't work, look up which relay controls the back up lights on your Excursion, then make the connection that way.

Talked to Peak today. They said unfortunately said they have had 2 other people with rf interference affecting keyless fob and 1 affecting bluetooth, but nobody with radio static iissues. They suggested moving the transmitter to a different location and even went as far as sending me free of charge a 25 ft extension cable. Not sure how that will change the receiver causing the interference. I think it is time to find a backup power wire just to be safe. I found a 02 wiring diagram saying the wire was black/pink can anyone confirm that it is the same color for 2000 model.

That's correct for the backup wire color, and if you have a overhead console, it may be already up there. They ran it up to the center of the roof to hook to the auto dimming rear view mirror. When you put the truck in reverse, the auto dimming feature is disabled, and they used the black/pink coming from the reverse switch to achieve this.

rerouted the power wire to the black and pink leading to rearview mirror... took 10 minutes problem solved.....just be cautious to any wireless rearview camera they use 2.4 ghz same as the ford FOBs
