trans leak
trans leak
i was helping a stuck friend today, and had to pull pretty hard, my trans tempa spiked a bit but never passed 190. when i got out of my truck there was a good amount of ATF dripping from my drip hole in the front. it slowly came to a slow drip, it has been sitting for a while now and i just drove it about 5 miles, brought it back and there was no ATF leaking now, so i am not sure if my front seal is bad or not?
It's the front seal. You overheated the seal and it softened. Once it cooled it stiffened again and sealed up. It can do that cycle several times until it ultimately fails. If you don't overheat the torque converter again it probably will be fine.
I just did the same thing pulling my brother in law's Scout out of the mud Saturday, it is now sealed up fine, and so long as I dont do this again i should be fine as well. When I have more time I will replace the seal with my son on a non rainy weekend. You may want to check your rear pinion seal too I blew that too.
Good luck.
Good luck.
