I have a 2004 excursion with a 5R100 and I have a terrible vibration at 50+ when I press down on the pedal. I was pretty sure it was a U joint or the exhause vibrating but I checked both. Anyone else have this problem? Please help
We likely need more information in order to be helpful. Most often a vibration at that speed is in the tires but I suspect that you know that. If it is not the tires it can be a damaged or bent driveshaft. However.. since you mentioned that it seems to be related to the accelerator ? is that correct ? then that is something altogether different. Are you talking like an engine miss under heavy acceleration ?
how many miles are on it i just had the same issue my u joints were good i was stumped i thought for sure it was the tranny it turned out to be the pinion bearings in the rear diff .It sounds very similiar when i stepped on the go pedal it would start and as soon as i let off it would quit it felt like my converter locking up when i stepped on it hope this helps
Yah I agree that it might be in the rear end. But I can Aldo gear something else as I accellerate and it sounds like the exhaust is rubbing but I think something is breaking. What speed did yours start to vibrate at and noise? What about power? What hp do you have?
mine would start at 30mph when i would step on it there was a clunk then a god awful growling noise and every thing would start shaking i could make the noise quieter by letting off the go pedal and louder when i stepped on it once i let off the throttle it would totally quit i ended up finding a used diff with 127000km on it for the same price as parts to fix mine so i went that route good luck to you(btw if you want to check your pinion bearings take your driveshaft off and see how much in and out and up and down play you have it should be tight )
Thank you much! I'll try that out tonight and let you know how it goes. I have another rear a axle so I should be ok I think. I'll try it out and hopefully that's it
