Multi Function Switch Box/no tail, brake or hazzard lights
Just bought a 99, 250 Super Duty 4x4, I have no tail, brake or hazzard lights. I've checked fuses etc. and everything looks OK and after searching here and on the net I see that 350's have a Multi Function Switch Box in the dash under the stereo. Is this something the 250's have? Any help appreciated!
The first thing I would look at is your signal flasher, followed by the multifunction switch itself. You might also want to examine the wiring going to the rear lights and trailer to make sure a previous owner has not buggered it up.
Gearloose1, I will reset computer and charge and load test battery, but I question the flasher, how would this effect the brake lights? BTW I can hear clicking at the pedal when it's pressed. Just wanna have my guns loaded when I start diagnosing! Thanx and great link you posted...........also the third brake light is working..........
So......I've reset computer, bought a new multifunction switch ( got it from napa, switch was no good as the wiper was in hyper mode and washer fluid just kept spraying! After inspecting switch it was missing 2 prongs for plugs! They did take it back $109+! ) so I got a used one from bone yard $50+ and flasher,....still no luck! I have pulled every fuse and swapped any that have to do w/ tail, brake or hazzard lights, still no luck! Beside going thru the whole wiring system anybody got any more ideas????????????
FEI..after $100 bucks in parts the solution is that the #1 fuse/flasher fuse is loose and after tearing off the dash to change flasher that is under radio, WTF was Ford thinking except that only a tech could find it, I could hear it clicking while playing with #1 fuse. I pulled the fuse box to repair the loose connector and there is no accesing the inside of it, I put a small piece of solid copper welding wire in with the fuse and WALLAH......tail, brake and hazzard lights! I hope this helps someone as I wish someone else had gone thru this and posted their experiance, oh well I'll look for inexpensive fusebox and do it right someday!
