Turn signal relay issues

Hey everyone I finally joined this forum as i have been a part of the full size bronco forum for a while and with my dad having a super duty I figured i might as well join here, now heres a question on my neighbors 02 250 6.8l the turn signal/hazzard relay is clicking with key off, sounds exactly like a turn signal when truck is off and switches are not engaged. Heres the weird thing, if you hit the brakes the relay stops clicking, if you engage the turn signal or the hazzards the lights on the dash are in time with the relay as it should be, but when the turn signal switch or hazzards are turned off the relay keeps clicking except when you hit the brakes. Also the turn signal will work with ignition off, if you pull the relay out the turn signals and hazzards are inoperable but the brake lights still work. Any thoughts guys? I swapped in a new relay and same thing

Bad ground.

Start with the grounding stud behind the driver's side kick panel.

The flasher relay doesn't have anything to do with the stop lamp operation.

Thanks man will do, why would the relay stop clicking when the brakes are depressed though? Is the current having a place to go when the brake light switch is activated and not have a place when its released?

Thought about this some more and I don't think it's a ground problem after all. I overlooked the bit about the turn signals operating with the key off.

Has it been raining a lot where this truck is at or did this start after the truck was out in a heavy rain or snow melt?

Any recent service history? Wiring modifications?

No mods that im aware of, he's had this issue for a couple years, you have to pull the relay out if it sits for long periods because the relay clicking will drain the battery down, its weird though, it will click like the turn signal is on, hit the brakes and it stops clicking, while holding the brakes and turn the turn signal on the relay clicks in time with the dash indicator and all is normal, until you let off the brakes then it clicks

Yeah, repeating the same information doesn't change anything.

Someone needs to poke around in there with a meter and see what's HOT when it's not supposed to be.

I've never heard of an MFS causing this symptom but there's a first time for everything. Maybe someone spilled their Coke into the switch, that's about the only way I can see it doing what you described.

Don't laugh, my son did that to one of the rear window switches on a 2000 Navigator we had years ago, caused all sorts of weirdness with the power windows.
