Red face F250 Fuel Pump/Tank Issues

My front fuel pump went out the oher day, no big problem, it was empty anyways and ive just been using the rear tank. Heres the problem, the front tank got punctured by something and the rear tank starting putting fuel into the front tank at a high rate. Ive patched the front tank but the rear tank continues to fill the front tank. Anybody know the issue here? I though these two tanks were separate.

There is a by-pass of some sort, I just never looked into it.

The shuttle valve in the fuel delivery module in the front tank isn't working properly. My understanding is that you need to replace it, or it will continue to let return fuel flow into the front tank while you're running the back tank.

There should be a sort of selector valve that both lines hook into, if that went bad it could allow gas to leak into the front tank

F250 7.3 Engine runs great for about 15 miles and then acts like it is running out of fuel. I have changed the fuel filter on the top of the engine.
I remember once I had a car that had a screen in the fuel tank and it was plugging and that caused the same type of thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on the year. Pre 90', the rear tank pump is probably pooching too. It will fail to operate the tank valve (which is mechanical) completely if pressure is low.
