Pre Rev-X Oil Sample

I was selected to test Rev-X in the 6.0 I have. I was thinking of pulling some oil for a Oil Sample before installing the Rev-X. I was thinking of removing the Oil Filter and taking some oil from inside of the canister. I don't have a very good memory and can not remember if all the oil drains out before you put the new filter in. I was thinking of just changing the oil filter to a new one right now and when I ran the Rev-X for a while and change my oil take another sample.

I have about 2,600 miles on current oil change of Rotella 5-40W synthetic. Did about 800 miles of towing during this change most is daily drives to school just long enough to get everything warmed up.

Need some Ideas Quick Don't want to pull the plug to drain it and only other option would be to suck up up through the dip stick.

Wait for an oil change. Make sure the truck is good and warm and take a sample midway through it draining. In other words, pull the drain plug, count to ten, and then get some.

Check out the Blackstone Oil Labs FAQ.. It's pretty funny..

Here's their sampling advice..

When you pull the filter it will drain back into the sump so you will probably not get enough oil to do an analysis but you can check it out for yourself.

Take a sample, add Rev-X to the next oil change, go the same amount of miles, sample again.

That's the Plan. cartmanea

I found some tubing that is used to hook up ice-makers with. It fit in the dip stick tube good. Marked it at the end of the dip stick. Pushed it down and had a big syringe and sucked up some oil. Motor was still hot at the time. Have been watching the Boost numbers last couple of weeks and after putting in the Rev-X it seems to be higher at most places through out the rpm and load range. One thing is it is raining here now so I have not had a chance to put the pedal down yet. I have notice on some 1/2 throttle runs through the gears it will hit 23 psi where before i don't remember it going much over 20 psi. Could be the MAP. Tomorrow morning at cold start will be the real test. I will try to get a link to the videos soon.

OMG! That was hilarious. I've been on their site who knows how many times and I've never been to that page.

I ran a dose of Rev X in december with standard 15W40 convential oil and it solved my injector stiction problem like a charm while running the Rev X. The next oil change I tried it without the Rev X and the stiction problem was back. This stuff worked great for stiction for those who want to run 15W40 and not synthetic 5W40 but is a bit pricey.
