p1316

Hey guys I took off from the stoplight today and accelerated pretty good and I discoverfed a pretty good miss. I stopped started again and it went away. I got back in my truck and it started missing pretty bad and I got this code. I scanned it with my scan gauge and got p1316. I have the #2 glowplug which has gone bad and I still not rfeplaced. Is this causing this or is it an injector problem.

My list of codes shows P1316 as an injector drive module code, Someone smarter than me will have to tell you how to correct it. I hope this helps.

The 1316 means there are codes stored in the idm and you have to do a buzz test to retrieve the code (s). This if often caused by one of the 9 pin connectors coming loose under the valve cover. I would start by ohming out the 9 pin plug on the outside of the valve cover. If you see opens especially on the glow plugs this could indicate a bad connection under the valve cover.

The pins are arranged like this at the 9 pin plug. Test the male terminals.

G - G - I - I - C - I - I - G - G

G = glow plug
I = Injector return
C = Injector common feed

You should measure .5 - 2 ohms between G and ground, and around 3.5-5 ohms between I and C.

I'm not sure where the 9 pin module is on the valve cover. Would this have to do with the glow plug code I get sometimes?

The injector wiring harness is coming unplugged inside the valve cover.
It will set the P1316 code and make you chase your tail if you replace the IDM for that code.
Before you go any further, remove both valve covers and retorque the rocker arm pedastals, injector hold downs, and do the 50 cent mod.

thanks I will get my mechanic to check that out asap. when it first happened. I took it home and parked it, I jumped in it again and it ran fine. I started to come home from my parents house and and it started doing it again for about 15 miles then it quit.

The UVCH connector is inboard, toward valley, and in the center of each valve cover. At the bottom of these pics is the valve cover.
