Crankcase pressure 460

I posted this question in the 385 series forum with no responses so I'll try here. I have a 1968 lincoln engine in my 74 pickup. I am getting oil appearing, apparently coming out of the dipstick. The oil puddles on top of the timing chain cover. I thought it was the distributer o-ring but when I converted to electronic ignition I put in a new dizzy and still have the problem of oil showing up on the TC Cover. The engine has recently been rebuilt by a reputable machine shop, runs strong and does not blow any smoke out of the tail pipe so rings don't seem to be the issue. The PCV valve seems to be working ok and has strong vacuum at the valve when I pull it out of the rocker cover to check.

Is there any other reason I would get excess pressure in the crank case causing oil to appear around the dipstick? I'm at a loss. Please give me your ideas.

Thanks, Tim

In addition to the leak down test, you should verify that the "China Wall" is not leaking.
If you used a turkey pan type intake gasket, it is entirely possible to have a leak here.
I guess even a standard gasket could leak here too, but it should still be looked at.

mark a, Yeah I guess I'd better do a compression test. I really don't think it is there but I suppose I could be wrong... or maybe just in denial...

73350, the turkey pan type intake gasket you're referring to, is that what some call a "valley pan"? The gasket set for my Edlebrock dual plane manifold didn't come with a pan, just gaskets. Should it have come with a pan on a 68 application? I suppose a missing splash suppressor could be something to look at. Hmmm

I got a 70 460 in my 76 f150, I didnt use the pan on mine and dont have any probs. also ran a bead silicone for the end seals. no rubber gaskets cause they like to slip out. I do have some oil on the driver side that lays on the top of the intake but think it is just oil gettin around the intake bolts between cyl 6 and 7
do you have a vented cap on the dr side valve cover?
