Western style Mirrors???

LMC has western style mirrors in their catalogue and I am wondering if there is anyone with PICS of these installed. I am looking for an alternative for the standard towing mirrors as I have to see around my dang slide in camper.

From the pics in the catalogue I cant see how they would mount?

I think they look horrible on anything but really old pickups.

My 1990 f250 reg cab long box. I have one ton springs so she sits a little higher than most.

I think they're kinda goofy looking myself, unless you've got a big rig or something old.

My 94 F150 had a set of western mirrors on it when I bought it a while back...

I replaced them with a set of fancy stock regular fold-in mirrors...

To me western mirrors make the truck look like it has huge ears, if you look at the truck from the front that is.

They were never very practical from me. They're a big blind spot, big enough of a blind spot to hide an entire car on the road to your left at a 4 way stop. Better get use to looking around them before you pull out into the road. They have a great horizontal field of vision, but you cant see jack squat to the sides, and the sides is where you wanna see when towing! Towing was a nightmare with them things. I also wasn't very found of the loud wind whistling noise they made at any speed over 35mph, loud enough on the highway to be heard over the radio. They also flap around a little bit at speed, might not bother some folks, but it bugged the hell outta me trying to look in the mirror while it was vibrating all over the place.

I also had a set on my 86 F150, they weren't any better on it...

Just figured I'd give ya an honest opinion of what I learned driving with the damn things for about 5 years combined.

Jimbo, what you got were the West Coast Juniors, the big West Coast mirrors like in this pic work great for towing and are very sturdy:

I'd love a set of those, since I have a dually with fenders big enough to hide a Harley bike behind them, but for the time being I'll do with my newly-acquired factory towing mirrors...

I have to say that those Western mirrors are pretty darn ugly. I guess if you really need them, then there doesn't seem to be many options for larger mirrors.

When you say factory tow mirrors, do you mean that you have ones like the reproduction stainless mirrors on the LMC link?

I like those and the 90s sport type mirrors the best.

Yes, like the large ones LMC sells, same as in this pic:

I just put them on yesterday, only because the mirror heads were messed up I had to reuse my old ones, which are identical in size only not as thick cause the round bar don't sink into them, but is on the outside instead.

You mean the '92-'96 sport mirrors that Broncos had? My "new" passenger-side door came with one of those, I was looking for a matching driver-side door yesterday but couldn't find one at the U-Pull-It, so I went with the big mirrors instead, which would probably be better for the dually anyways.

You don't need bigger mirrors or even different mirrors, just get a set of slide out brackets from the auto parts.

Easy to install, unbolt the stock mirror heads, install the bracket with the slide bar in place, it simply clamps on over the stock bracket, then bolt the stock mirror head to the slide bar.

Put the camper on, loosen thumb screw, slide each head out, tighten thumb screw and drive.
Take camper off, loosen thumb screw, slide heads back in, tighten thumb screw and drive.

I used them for our slide in camper back when we had it, and still use them now for our 30' travel trailer, they are cheap easy to install and work just fine. That and they do not adversely alter the look of the stock mirrors, in fact hardly noticeable unless you really look.

If you look the 95 in my Gallery photos it has the brackets on it, I can post better pics with daylight tomorrow if you like.

I think this truck looks pretty good. I like the mirrors on it, at least in this pic. On a different note, I really like that bush guard.

That brush guard is actually for the '80-'86 trucks. And yes, I'd love those mirrors on my dually too, they'd look much better than what I got now.
