sorry I misunderstod the question. I have tried to get the clips out of the top. I gave up. I just used a pick to pull out the rubber o-ring.
Does removing the o-ring first allow for slack in the circlip as I see that the clip sits on something else, not directly on the d-ring. I was told they were a bitch to get out, and without having any spare new d-rings I've never tried hard.

Someone just told me to get a small socket that fits inside the injector but big enough to catch the snap ring and tap it. It gives some slack to get behind andpull out the clip. Going to try it now and see how it goes.
OH Damn! Didn't notice it before because the back injector was the one blown out. I actually started replacing just the o-rings and noticed this. It came out of the inj that had the blown out o-ring. Do I have to replace the injector now?
Here's the kit on the left. I don't see that piece anywhere?
I hgave had success in just replacing the o-ring with out removing anything else. its a pain in the butt.
what method did you use to get the clip out?
also the metal d ring (the broke part) you need to make sure that you have all the pices of it, if not you need to find it before it passes threw the oil pick up and in to the g-rotor. if it does pass its a very costly amount of damage.

Didn't they make the pickup screen smaller on the newer trucks because of problems with things going through the screen into the g-rotor? I know the roller needles in the lifters will absolutely FUBAR a motor when they hit the pump. It's not a pretty site. I know someone that just had it happen on a new hot rod motor. OUCH.
