I did a search and came up empty so I thought I would throw this out. Has anyone tried or know anyone who has tried the Powerjection III system on a 300? You would have to have a 4bbl manifold. I've seen them on V8's and they seem to run good. I checked with the Professional Products and RetroTek and both said it should work fine. For those who have never heard of it, it's just an EFI system with everything built into a throttle body that looks like a 4bbl carb. The computer is self learning so you don't need to program it. Even though the companies say it will work I'd like to hear from someone who actually uses it. It just seems kind of big volume wise yet I know I've seen it installed on 302's. Anybody with any experience? Professional Products Online
I have seen this product installed and working but on V8's. The idea of the product, the market, is for classic car owners who want the drivability of EFI but want to keep the vintage carb look for shows.
Yes there is a port for a laptop. It's for the guys who may have a supercharger or turbo and they need to alter the stock ignition timing or fuel curve.
The company claims it learns your engine and your driving habits. Modern vehicles do that now. You install it and drive for about 20mins and it's ready to go. As a computer engineer for 30years, computers are becoming more and more "scary". Mostly because of programmers. I know you're kidding about the self-aware. But some times....they do things....we call it Ghost in the Machine.
Summit Racing $1650 and includes the fuel pump. Price wise it's competitive. I'm just curious how well it will work on a 300. I'm going to keep looking around the internet and see if I can find anything.
It looks like a really nice unit. Maybe just write the company and ask if it would work on a 300ci I6. I'd love to put one of those on.
It looks like it's self learning, but has a lap top setup for those that want it.
And that is 500 posts wow so many people have been here less time than me with way more posts.
It's not quantity, it's quality.
Both Professional Products and RetroTek said the Powerjection "should" work. They are going by cubic inches. It works on a 302 V8 so a 300 inline should work. I guess when it comes down to it the computer doesn't care. It measures a throttle position, temp, map and the O2 sensor. If I have any money left after sending my boys to the National Boy Scout Jamboree, I may just get one and try it.
I know the 'Redline' system, make by Webber sells through Clifford for about $1300, and the owner of Clifford says it works fantastic on the 300. Of course he would say that.
I only mention it because if Clifford sells it for $1300, then you can most likely find it for much cheaper elsewhere.
Does anyone know what the major differences are. I really like the idea of driving around with a laptop and dialing it in. A new era has arrived.
And of course that makes me wonder about mileage increases....
I'm not real sure about Clifford myself. However, I am NOT bashing a vendor(disclaimer). I asked them this week about thier intake and a coolant passage. They told me it had one cast into it and they drilled and tapped two 3/8" hole in the bottom. I also asked about EFI exhaust manifolds and fitment. I scored a set at the junk yard last weekend. He said they would fit but my computer would not work. I mentioned I was doing away with the emissions and computer during my rebuild. The truck is 25 years old and they don't check emissions. He seemed to think it would take lots of modifications. Why? I'm switching distributors, DUI, the computer controls emissions and that's about all. But that's all off topic.
Anyway, I didn't look at Redline but I did look at Howell. Clifford listed the "Jeep" kit on their site but Howell says to use their Universal V6 kit. They already have tuning chips for the 300 that they claim work very well. That kit it more though, I think it was $1700. I'm going to check out the Redline now.

This is exactly it right here. I'd love to see the performance and mileage increases from having it perfectly tuned all the time. Plus carb issues with cold weather startups, elevation changes, extreme angles, vapor lock, etc. would all be a thing of the past. All the perks of having the carb'd 300 with the ability for performance, with the benefits of EFI. Seems like a cool idea. Wish it wasn't $1500 though.
