fan switch

07 150 fan switch works on 1,2,and 4. 2 and 3 are the same speed. If you turn a the switch half way between 2 and 3 it will work like 3 is supposed to. Is this a switch problem or a resistor problem?

That sounds like a switch problem.

I would have to agree. If it were a resistor problem, it would never work no matter what you did with the switch.

pulled apart the dash today. looked like the connector that plugs into the back of the fan switch had got hot and melted al little. could this have shorted the resistor? or do i just need to get a new plug end?

I would be concerned with why the plug got that hot in the first place.

It looked like whoever owned it before put son of a gun on the dash by the gallon the plug in the back was soaked with it. so i think this is what cause it to get hot.
