I have a '77 F150 4x2 w-cruise (not working rite now for some reason), will a '78 Bronco steering wheel w-cruise fit it? My wheel is cracked, but mainly the center is pulling out and won't tuck back in.
Since the title for this thread is perfect and his question was answered I'll build on this and ask another
Will a wheel from a '79 F-150 bolt right onto a '74 or '75? I remember reading somewhere a while back people have had trouble making horn buttons work when swapping wheels from different years. I seem to remember it being '79 to older, but maybe it was '78 AND '79 to older or something?
Anyways - are the splines on the end of the steering shaft the same for the 73-77 trucks the same as the 78 / 79?
I'm not really sure on the splines, or what the difference is, but if IIRC Grant has 2 different part #'s for their install kits for early dents and the 78/79.
Each steering wheel will swap over, but there are some differences in the center where the horn pads go. 73-77 are different than 78-86. So you would have to swap the entire steering wheel.
Got it - thanks for the clarification. So maybe selling this nice, uncracked steering wheel and clean, functioning pad for the '79 column I may end up using for only $25 might have been a bad choice in hindsight????
