I did a search and can't find anything on how to do it. There was a thread
a while ago where someone had some good points on what to do. I can't
find it now.
Does anyone have a link or suggestions before I dig into it?
I've done ball-joints, bearings, alignment, adjustment etc... so the last thing is this.

Not sure if this is the one you are looking for but here is what I did.
I would highly recommend you purchase a Red Head reman steering gear vice buying an OEM or other aftermarket remaned gears. Lot of guys spent the extra money, your truly included, for a quality reman and are very happy with them. Give them a call. It is an education. Just Google "Red Head Steering Gear".
One thing to clarify in the write up. I did not actually remove the steering wheel. I disconnected the steering column from the steering box.
Simple compared to ball joints!! disconect 2 lines, don't mix them up. 3 bolts through drivers fender well at frame. One bolt on steering shaft and out she comes..
