This is my first time posting on the 6 liter board. Hopefully everyone is as friendly and helpful as the 7.3 board.
I was in traffic yesterday just idling along when my truck revs up and then the check engine light appears. This is a 2003 f250 crew cab 4x4 with 70,000 Could anyone tell me whats wrong?
This is just a side note, I stopped by the stealership and they tell me my injector compression pump is bad needing replaced at close to $600. what is a injector compression pump?
thanks for any and all help
I think William has it correct. Look in the 6.0 tech folder for location, diagnosis and repair. The injector compression pump they are refering to is actually called the High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP)--basically like the 7.3 but it's on the top of the motor under the turbo. Go through the diagnosis before just replacing the pump as the ICP sensor is prone to failure (oil leaking) on that year model engine. If the sensor is bad and leaking the harness pigtail needs to be replaced also.
No I didn't get the code. foolish. I guess I didn't understand the terminology the shop man was telling me. I do understand hpop I've changed that on the 7.3. Thanks for your help I'll check out the sensor first.
Mine did the same thing 6 months ago. At idle it would randomly rev up and threw a code. It was the ICP sensor. Replaced it and the pigtail and fixed the issue.
