I was hoping someone could help me with this issue. I changed the TFI-4 ICM module, the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) & EVP (egr valve pos sensor) & no luck. Today I was working on the truck again, cleared the codes by disconnecting battery. I pulled the codes & got code 31, then did a engine running test & got codes 31, 44. These codes were pulled after I had installed a new egr pos sensor. I got 4.8V coming from electrical connector to egr sensor, the resistance on sensor tested 3,500 book says it should be approx 5k. Have had this problem intermittently for years, but it is really acting up lately. I also have an idle issue where every time I come to a stop engine idle is racing & a kick of the gas brings it right down, this issue has been happening about the same length of time.
Maybe your EGR is bad? If you changed the EVP that would be my next guess, bad EGR's cause engines to run weird. .Easy way to tell is dissconnect it and see if it runs better or not. The new parts might be bad too, I've had terrible luck with new parts as of late. The most common issue with wiring is poor grounds, so I would check all your wiring to make sure all the grounds are good and there are no pinched or broken wires and check all the plugs to make sure they are good.
