Intermittent rough idle

Intermittent rough idle
Ok, I have another issue with me truck. Every now and then while driving around, the engine will start running rough like it isnt firing on all cylinders. There are times it will smooth out within a minute or two, and other times I have to let it sit overnight before for it to run smoothly. This has been going on now for a year, but like I said, it has been intermittent.

In the past when this has happened, I could never pull any codes using sct x3 programmer. Well today the issue came back, so I hooked the programmer up and finally got some codes.

Here is what I got:
1. P0269 - Cylinder 3 Contribution Balance
2. P0403 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit
3. P0405 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low
4. P0611 - Fuel Injector Control Module Performance

Now the run down on my truck. Its 2004, with 142k miles, egr delete and a tune. ICP sensor reads .26v with the key on and .88v at idle. I tested the FICM, and I got 58.5v with key on and 58.8v at idle.

Injector on cylinder 3 could be failing or have stiction.

FICM code is due to aftermarket (58v) instead of 48 volt. And EGR is obstructed in valve, cooler or both.

Start with that.

This might be a dumb question, but why am I seeing these codes now, in regards to the aftermarket FICM, after owning this truck for the past four years? Also, if I have an egr delete, shouldn't this be a non issue with the egr?

Thanks for your input

On the 2005 up you need a SCT tuner to turn off codes for a EGR delete. Don't know about the 2004. What do you get on FICM volts during cranking? Injector #3 could be failing or have striction like 6.0only said. Might try Archoil additive to straighten that out before replacing.

I've been having a personal debate between Archoil and Rev-X. Both sound promising, but ive also heard that Rex-X is better than Archoil, and vise versa, so a dilemma has been at hand.

Soft codes will log codes in your scanner but not set a light on the dash.

Suspect bad injector #3. You could disengage #3 when it is running rough to confirm #3 is causing the disruption. Best to look at power balance in IDS at a dealership or shop. Or get Auto Enginuity w/ Ford Bundle as next best option.

Stiction would tend to target all injectors equally, but #3 could have a nut coming loose from the spool valve bolt on the top of the injector.
