Sway controller recommendations
I have a 30' bumper pull and I was looking into sway controls to add to my WD hitch. I have the straight bars so I am limited to a add-on friction sway control but the dealer told me not to waste my $. I was looking at one from Camping World for $60 for an off brand or $110 for a Reese. I don't want to have to invest in a whole new dual cam set-up for hundreds of $. Anyone have some sugeestions as to whether or not these cheaper alternatives makes a difference? My truck is a 2001 Ext. cab V10 4X4.

Do they help some? In my opinion, sure. The problem is, as you realize, they have no ability to center the trailer. I use a $60.00 model, sometimes. Sometimes I don't run a sway control. I know of no advantage to paying more for the Reese model.

I have used a friction sway control on a 30'er. It helped. It also helped to have the rear tires of the tow vehicle and the trailer tires aired to max rated pressure. Anything to minimize sideways movement helps.

I appreciate the help. I figure for $60 it is worth a try. Even if it helps minimize some of the sway that would be good especially when the wife and her girlfriends are using the camper....
