Okay im rewiring my 73 ford P/U F250. Bought the painless wiring Kit, 18 circuit version w/ non Gm Column. Everything is included w/ the kit, except the resistor in the ignition circuit, the one that drops voltage going to the coil, I guess. Well have totally removed the wiring previously, so now I need this part... HELP! I can use a regular Resistor, just need to know the value..
I think 1.15 to 1.4 would get you in the right voltage range. Are you still using points or is it swapped to an electronic, ie Duraspark, system?
I used a ballast resistor from a Dodge to replace the wire on one of my past trucks, but I cant rememebr the part number sorry
Okay I wasnt sure about switching to a Ballast box or not.
Its a Points dist. converted to electronic (I didnt do it, wouldve spent the extra to get new dist).
Painless wiring used to include ballast boxes in their kits, but don't anymore, few were using them. They still sell them, just have to call for those who are interested. I will say that this kit isvery nice!!! Dont need to spend the extra $$$ for a Truck harness, the Reg Rod Harness works great!
