Frying Altinators
Ok, I realy need help, I have a 77 F150 W/390 and I have gone threw 3 altinators in less than a year. They have left me stranded many times on the side of the road. Is thair any warning signs, like a few days ahead that I can see? Do any of you guys have any advice on how to keep them good? I need help It was 4:00 and it was snowing a whole S@#$ load and it killed on me, any advice is good advice.

I assume you have an external voltage regulator? I would hook up a voltmeter, guage type. If the alternator fails, take another meter and see if the field is getting bat voltage. Alternators should last a long time unless you are pulling a lot of current. Check all the alt wiring for good connections.
