be very very very carefull trying to get it out, mine broke off right at the block, and there is no good way to get to it, its behind the oil cooler. cant pull the cooler because it is part of the motor mount setup. most effective way to get it out is to puch it out from below, but oil pan wont come down far enough because of crossmember clearance. dont know what to tell you on how to get it loose, but do everything you can not to break it

I just had to do this on my 5.4L and I expect yours is probably similar.

I know what you're saying, to me it felt like there was another bolt somewhere that I didn't remove. But, I removed the single bolt on the head and after pulling up and wiggling it around in a rotational motion (if that makes sense?) it finally worked loose and pulled right out.

Good luck!

I tried that but there was no way the header would fit down past my steering shaft. Just wouldn't quite go.

That would be a better way to go for sure.

I broke mine when I tried to remove it for the Header install. If I could do it again, my first approach would've been to try and lower the header down fishing the dipstick through the flange.
