Okay I am interested in modding my tranny. I tow a 24' steel stock trailer quite often. I will be putting on a DP tuner and am wondering which of these VB are better. I have been reading mixed on BTS and I only live about 8hrs from him. I want something reliable with the DP for the towing and DD and not have to worry about the tranny going out while driving down the road.
You can't go wrong either way. I went with a John Wood as I already had my DP Tuner and didn't have to get it re burned. As you are so close to Brian, you may want to go with his. Then all you have to do is let Jody know that you are running a BTS VB and he can burn your tunes accordingly. But like I said, can't go wrong either way.
Yeah, the DIY kit is nice so you can see how the VB really works and you can save a few $$$. As long as you don't mind tearing into your trans' guts and drilling holes, it's not too bad... LOL
yea i have been doing some reading on here and noticed you are abit of an advocate for the transgo tugger kit LOL are you running the OEM VB with the kit
Yeah -- OEM trans with just the TransGo in it. The HD-2 is also a good kit, but I can't argue with the results I got. Don't know enough about auto trans tech to know how different they are, though. I know I mod'ed more stuff than just the accumulator VB that you would swap by going with BTS/JW. Just something to consider.
There are a lot of mods with the Tugger. I only did the ones I could get to with the trans in the truck. There are pump mods you can do if you pull it, but I didn't have the time to do it. I mod'ed the Accumulator VB & the Main VB. There were a few more you could do under there if you dropped the entire bunch of parts, but I didn't do that either. Here is a link to the instructions for the Tugger I scanned in: TransGo pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots
sweet thanks i noticed you sport TW tunes is that for the easy since he is close I have been looking at both and am in FT Worth at least 6 times a year how does his compare to the DP tuner? Thanks sorry for all the questions I just want to get the best bang for the buck
