I just recently purchased and installed a dp tuner chip and a bts vb on my 02' f250 and I am not impressed or pleased with how my truck is shifting during normal driving. During hard acceleration everything seems to be good but when I am accelerating normally from a stop or slow roll to about 60 mph the transmission shifts into over drive at 45 mph everytime. The rpms drop to about 1400 and the turbo releases boost pressure, so to get from 45 to 60 or 65 I have punch the gas. This is really annoying and I cant see how this is normal for this set up. So would you guys guess the the vb is causing this or a setting in the tuner? The tuner and the vb were supposed to both be set up to work with the other. Thanks for any thoughts.
im kind of having a problem like that also when i get on the gas hard but not to the floor from like 5 to 10mph my truck will shift hard n doesnt seem like it wants to take off very fast.
I get that too. WIth stock gearing and the large tires, it really lags on power and skyrockets the EGT's. I control the shifts until about 50-55 using the OD button. If you really 'want' to, you can send the chip back and he can reburn it to shift at a certain speed to OD.
I called dp tuner today and asked them about this and found out that this is a characteristic of the 80 econo setting in order to keep the rpms low....so the guy told me to try the other tunes to see if it was as noticable in those. so I tried my 40 tow and 120 settings and under the same acceleration it shifts into overdrive a little bit later(like 50-52mph) and makes a huge difference. So yes 01redcrew if this is happening in the 80 econo setting it seems to be normal
