No, the '03 just used a regular key. I heard that they pull the column off, bypass the ignition wires, and they're gone. It takes an experienced thief about 90 seconds to steal one. My new truck has the chipped key, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the turds find a way around that too.
To my knowledge none of the 6.0s have the PATS keys unless maybe the HD edition ones might.

Wow. Strange. My '00 Ex with the V10 gasser has a PATS key, as does my '04 Ex with the 6.0 PSD. Come to think about it, a guy at work has an '04 F250 with the 6.0 PSD and he has a regular key. Strange.
Anyway, sorry for the bastages stealing your baby. I hate thieves.
I hate thieves. The worst part is the truck will probably be loaded in a container and shipped to the middle east. This last time I was in Iraq while out on patrol we kept seeing US plates especially Texas plates on US vehicles. Finally out of curiosity we copied a plate # and VIN and called it in to a Houston police station and found out it had been stolen from a mall parking lot 6 months prior. They told us it was most likely shipped out of Beaumont, TX or possibly Mexico. US trucks and SUVs are a hot ticket over there and they don't need the title or paperwork proving it's theirs. B@$ards don't even bother to take the US plates off and laugh about it when you ask them why its on there.

Yup. They have been hitting this area hard lately, mainly stealing superduty's. They are running them to Mexico for the drug cartels. I hope they burn alive in mine one day---a whole truckload of 'em.
Sorry about your loss. I agree with maintenance on these trucks. Expensive. If I didn't need it for my 5th wheel, I wouldn't keep mine.
Expensive no doubt, but, I don't know if I could go back to the silence of the gasser again. When I 1st bought the truck and got it home I thought god did I screw up because of the noise. Now it's like music to me. Yaa, old age and beer has finally fried the brain cells but besides needing it for the 5er it sounds sweet + the wife doesn't want to drive it. 2 benefits.
