Chris,
I put my buddies IDM in my truck and it still smokes. I unplugged #7 with his IDM and it goes away. Also I did ohm out the plug, the plug that goes into the IDM and all injectors ohm out to 2.8ohms.I dont think its a harness issue or IDM now. I think its rings or can it be a head issue. Can you take the head off with the engine in the truck. Can a dealer do a compresion test. I bought one but it does work with this 7.3 the conector to the gauge will not fit in between the rocker arm. Not sure where to go from here any help.
I made a adapter for the compression test and found cylinder #7 has no compression. Cylinder #1,3,5 has 340psi. I did a leak down test and I don't hear it from the tail pipe but its really loud around the push rod tub. SO I think there is a hole in the piston.
Does anyone think its a good idea to replace just one piston if there is no damage to the cylinder wall?
