ok i am trying to bleed my clutch in my truck, i had to replace the clutch master, i was wondering if there was someone here that ACTUALLY bled the clutch system, because the way all data says to do it is not working at all, been trying for an hour. and i know most people say replace it all because its probably all bad but the parts are very new looking and the reason for replacing the master wasnt because the hydraulics failed, it just broke and put the clutch pedal too high. i was still able to drive the truck fine.
Ive done it.... Both ways... you shoulda replaced the whole thing. BUT since you didnt get under the truck and pump the slave by hand until it is too hard to. by then you should be able to pump it with the clutch pedal. MAKE SURE you keep the master full. Take out the rubber piece in the reservoir before starting this process. Once you can get the truck in gear with out grinding (mainly reverse) DRIVE IT. It will take about two weeks of daily driving to get all the air out of the system.
This will work perfect. Roland posted this and it has worked for me on a few trucks.
Try this:
Clutch System Bleeding —In-Vehicle
Fill the clutch master cylinder reservoir to the full line with DOT 3 Brake Fluid.
Unlock, and remove the slave cylinder from the transmission.
Compress and twist the slave cylinder to unlock it from the transmission.
Disconnect the clutch hydraulic tube from the floor pan clip.
Position the slave cylinder and the hydraulic tube so that there are no high points that could trap air in the system.
Position the slave cylinder push rod downward. Route the hydraulic tube upward as straight as possible toward the master cylinder so that the air can flow freely to the fluid reservoir.
CAUTION: Do not allow the clutch master cylinder reservoir to run dry.
Purge the air from the clutch hydraulic system.
Push the push rod slowly into the slave cylinder until it bottoms out the piston. Hold the push rod in this position for five to ten seconds to allow all trapped air to rise through the system. Very slowly, so that air is not drawn back into the slave cylinder, release the push rod (the spring in the slave cylinder will force the piston outward). Wait five to ten seconds for the air bubbles to rise. Repeat this process until all air purged from the system. Verify that the fluid in the reservoir is free of air bubbles.
Install the slave cylinder.
Compress and twist the slave cylinder to lock it onto the transmission.
Connect the clutch hydraulic tube to the floor pan clip. Slowly depress and release the clutch pedal 20 to 25 times to bleed any air still trapped in the system. Verify that the fluid in the reservoir is free of air bubbles.
Verify that the fluid level in the reservoir is correct, and install the cap.
mine isn't bleeding right either, so tonight I took the reservoir off the mounts and tied it up high, a lot of air came out of the hose from it to the master
Guy's I dont know why your having such a problem but it does happen. Just take the top off of the little reservoir and take the slave out and push it all the way in until it bottoms out about 20-25 times slowly. Sorry its not working for you.

I like it Eddie...heck, i'm just gonna go do this tommorrow for the helluvit......well that and to make sure i have no air in mine and to check my levels...thanx 4 the insight...reps coming...

Some like it rough I guess. Be careful and dont get air in your lines it seems to be hard to get it out
the air IS hard to get out, after a couple of hours pushing the slave i took the whole assembly out and found some big air pockets that pushing the slave in wouldnt get out. to even get the air to start moving i had to undo the line to the slave and fill the master with fluid...unfortunately when i took that line out the second time the little o ring broke so round 2 tomorrow.

Reason: spelling....its late
when i first installed it i didnt fill it but i took it back out and filled it. i went to get another master cylinder and what do ya know, i bought the only one they had in stock. i didnt realize how bad not driving my truck feels, i borrowed my moms 3000gt today to meet some friends and man do i miss my truck. ill let you know how it goes tomorrow when the part arrives.
well the truck is fixed, i repeated the same steps that i did with the other master and it worked this time around. now that rod on the clutch pedal is worn and the little clip bushing that holds that piece to the rod on the master cylinder wont hold it on. so thats next.
