throttle return spring
Does anyone know where I can get a throttle return spring for a 1985 300 six?
The spring is about 11 inches long. Also, where can I find the engine number on the block? I know the engine isn't original (the truck is an '80) because finding an accelerator cable has been a nightmare! I'd like to get a new spring to go with the new cable.

I'd check the junkyard first. If you don't find anything there, try the auto store and see what sizes of universal springs they have. You should be able to find something that'll do the job.
Just curious though, but do you have a working spring already? Why not just use it until it wears out?

I tried salvage yards with no luck. It's as bad as finding an accelerator cable (whole other story). I did find a spring at Princess Auto that will work. I just want to be prepared in case it breaks. Thanks for your suggestions.
