.Well the newer the car I buy the worse the problems are so I'm starting over. My first car was a 64 and now I'm building a 61 Ford Falcon tudor. I finisihed the bodywork and hooking everything up yesterday. Did pretty good, only stabbed myself once with the needle nose pliers, not good when you let go of the handle and it's still inbedded in your hand. So tomorrow I'm going to go back through and double check everything and bleed and adjust the brakes and it should be good to go. I haven't had a Falcon daily driver in about 8 years. Hopefully this 2400 pound monster will fly with the boss 144
. I can't wait to push it to the limit at 60mph

[edit] Forgot this, Starting Fluid should be in ones mouth if they use it in their motor! [/edit]

it's like speeding wildly out of control in a Toyota
. I changed the rear end from a 3.55:1 to a 3.10:1, My last one got 26-27mpg with a 144 and 3.50:1 rear end I expect the same with the 3.10:1 it just won't rev quite as much at highway speeds.
Still dissapointed no one wants to buy my 86, maybe I should get more muddin' and burnout pictures, and get pictures of it doing a wheelstand.
I found a 66 F250 someone put a 460 and C6 in, if I can sell both my trucks I can get it. but not likely to happen in a two week period.
I got the car half apart for $400 and spent maybe $500 in parts and had to put it together, and almost everything is brand new in it. And it's going to cost me about $300 to register it, sad. Where else are you gong to get a running driving car with new everything for $1200. Good thing I have extra collector plates, not like I'll get pulled over for speeding or anything. What's funny is I have 4-point racing harness's in the front in a car that can't even go freeway speeds.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
With the rear wagon springs and rear wagon brakes it sits nice and high in the back and stops on a dime. And with the 3.10 rear end it turns no where near the rpms it did with the 3.55 gears. So I'm happy with my swap, just need a decent carb and some gas and I'm pretty sure I have a new daily driver.
. And continental kits are just a pain and always in the way.On another note it looks like I inherited another project. A guy I know has a 69 Galaxie, 73 F100, and a 79 F250 4x4. He only has room and money for one project. So for sure the Galaxie is going to be striped of it's useful parts and junked and the parts sold off. The 79 is all apart and will be stripped of what is left that is salavagable and junked and what parts will work on the 73 will be saved. So the winner is the 73 F100 trailer special, it's going to get a newly rebuilt 390 and newly rebuilt C6 and the rear end redone and I need to fix all the rust on it from the cab forward, I have already replaced the floors and rockers on this truck. The box is toast as is the tailgate, but it's going to be a work truck so everything needs to be pretty except the box which will get damaged anyway. Sad to see old cars get junked. It all comes down to how much time and money are you willing to spend on restoring something, anything can be fixed.
Something else weird that happened was I was going to move my brothers 66 Thunderbird out of the shed to make room for reorganzing and making a bigger mess and it wouldn't fire. Checked a bunch of things and turns out the pertronix unit in the distributer went out, good thing we had another one, threw it in and fired right up. I've had quite a few pertronix setups as well as many people I know, this is the first I've ever seen go out, odd.
I went and drug my other RX7 out of the weeds, dropped a battery in it, and discovered the starter went belly up. Since I still had the chain hooked on it, I gave my son a quick lesson on push starting a stick, and hopped back in the old ford. 20 ft later, I heard a loud racket and knew it was running. After tinkering with it a bit, and driving it around, I parked it in an area I can more easily swap the starter. I have a couple spare starters, which is good. RX7 #3 also needs a starter.......
Yep, I have 3 of them. I bought one, and the other 2 were freebies.
BTW, it's hot here, too......
