I have an 89 Aerostar that I need to swap out the housing that has the key cylinder and igntion switch. I have the steering wheel apart, and eveything unplugged. How do I get the housing off the shaft? It is a tilt steering column. Just need to get the tilt mechanism off. Appears to be a bolt inthe center but has no way I can see to get it out.
My housing is all broken up.
Thank I need to get it swapped asap
I need to seperate the tilt section from the main housing, then I think I get it all apart. Looks like 2threaded inserts hold the pivots togethor. Not sure if it comes apart. Entire housing is loose but wont slide up and off the column. the top bearing is place. There looks to be plate behind the the tilt housing that is also getting in the way.
Where is thay manual you have from. Looks like a lot of great information
