I have a Motorcraft 2bbl. carb on my '74 F-100 that I can't seem to get the idle down.360 stroked to a 390,C-6,2WD.I had a kit put in about 3 months ago and the idle always seemed high.I have the idle screw almost all the way out and it's still at 1,100 to 1,200 rpm's and I can't get it no lower.B.T.W. what is the correct rpm at idle for the 360-390 2bbl. carb? Thanks for the help guy's.I don't know what else to do.
Thanks for the help.I'm going to give it a try today and see what happens.
Do you have A/C? A/C Step-up solenoid?
Reason I ask, I had a similar problem with my '78 mercury, guy put a rebuild kit in it and told me when I bought the car he thinks it needs a carb as he rebuilt it but it wont idle down. Come to find out he messed with the AC step up solenoid and the throttle lever was resting directly on it and the idle screw couldn't adjust the idle speed down anymore as the solenoid was stopping it.
