i have a 72 ford torino with a 2100 carb. i was wondering if i could change the jet sizes to a 60 because mine came with a 58. would this help my emgine in any way because i have to have the idle rpms high because if i dont the engine will act as if it is too lean. any suggestions?. thx for replies
Set the idle mixture needles (screws) to 2.5 turns out. If it still seems too lean, increase mixture needle opening by 1/4 turn increments (both sides set the same).
I run the idle mixture needles on my carb (2150 2V on a 351M) at 3 to 3.5 turns out for good idle quality.
Changing the jets won't have any affect on the mixture at idle. Only the two idle mixture needles on the front of the carb determine the mixture at idle.
would changing the main jets , inrich the above idle operation? the reason im asking is that ive got a 2v from a 302 on a390 and im concerned about it being to lean under load , its in an old 4X2 tow truck that i havent towed anything with yet due to weather, but i am concerned about detonation bob
