135,000 miles 4.6ltr 1998 f150-
Today when I started out the truck would run as if it has a missfire. It felt like when the wires are bad and the spark is jumping. It cleared up after a few miles. AT low RPM is was good, once I gave more gas it would start to jump. It did it again later in the day. Any suggestions?
normally that is a coil.. you will need to get it to throw a code so you can figure out which cylinder it is. normally when it starts missing more constant, you will get a yellow "check engine" light, then you can get the code read to see which cylinder... i am assuming you are not using any antifreeze ? Level does not drop over a week or two time period?
I've had trouble like that before. Change the coil and see if that solves the problem. One way to check without using a computer to get the code is let the truck idle then unplug each coil one by one. Whichever one least affects the timing is more than likely the bad one. I've changed 3 on my 2000 F-150 that way and fixed it every time.
