Boost

hey yall. im kinda tossin round the idea of gettin a 70 f250 with a 300 in it. ive also got a friend with three 25 millimeter turbos (two work fine, the third needs rebuilt) that hes willin to sell to me for $200. i, bein the mad scientist i am, want better fuel economy and more power, and am thinkin to put all three on the 300. itd be a two into one setup, and i estimate 30 to 40 lbs of boost, through a four barrel TBI injection. my question is: will a bone stock 300 be able to handle that kind of pressure?? and would i even be able to run standard 87 pump gas at that rate?

Either way, if you're serious about the project and complete it, POST PICS! I'd love to see that.

IIRC, anything more than about 5lbs.of boost and it's demolition time. 30-40 lbs.of boost is in the big truck (18 wheeler) range.

True. And if I remember the formula right, 5 lbs is plenty for the 300 as is.

Low end = (0.053 * ci * (boost + 14.7))
High end = (0.077 * ci * (boost + 14.7))

So 5lbs is 313 to 455 hp, which is still a whole lot. 40 lbs would be 870 to 1264hp. Not sure many engines at all can take that kinda cranking on stock internals.

but saabs are built from jets you would probably have to go with arp head studs at the least, and this is all i can suggest, because other than my dad's harley having a turbo on it, i have no experience with them first hand

probably about the same. if a motor wasn't meant for a turbo, there is a lot of stuff that will need to be changed, and don't forget about compression ratio
