I have a 1992 f 250, 4x4 with the single shaft driveshaft. went to the parts store and got a new u joint, i think its the right one, but i want to make sure. i dont trust theses stores anymore. anyone know where i can find a part number to cross reference. the u joint i got is a brute force, part # 2-4900BF. the old u joint is a spicer 14.
I just looked in the spicer catalog and for your truck they should be the same joint. The old u-joint isnt a spicer 14. Its probubly a spicer 1350, (aka) 5-178X in the new spicer catalog.
thanks fordman 1090, now to find the 6 point bit to take the u bolts off lol.
apparently some F 250s use the twin shaft driveshafts, the auto parts store didnt even have a schematic for the single shaft
Reg cab short bed or long bed, super cab short bed all had one pieces. Anything longer had a 2-piece. But i would think that the one at the axle is the same regardless of truck. But who knows, some parts stores arnt real helpful. What is the quality of the brute force u-joints? I'v never heard of them. If i cant get a hold of Spicers, i use Precision u-joints. They have been good so far.
