I thought when the cam phasers went bad the engine sounded like a diesel or a loud knock/ticking. I have an 08 f150 5.4 and it started sputtering and hesitating, felt like i was driving over rumble strips, complete loss of power. Was told it is a cam phaser by dealership.

 

Hmm, well my truck has the diesel symptoms. Yours sounds like you have a severe misfire... Not usually caused by cam phasers. But without seeing what they are seeing on their scan tool it is hard to say.

Thats a horror story that i hope doesnt happen to me. My truck is under factory warranty and i trust the dealership i took the truck to so i am not to nervous yet. They gave me a loaner car, a loaded focus, so i am ok for now.
