I found a used door the right color to replace my damaged one, but it has a manual window. Is there a difference if I swap the internals? I think Ford lists them differently, but I doubt they make different metal parts since the cost would be higher. Anyone know for sure?
I've been watching B&R for quite some time, hoping to find a white one that didn't need paint. This one's up in Portland from a guy parting one out, sounds like its in good shape and the right color. My front door edge got tweaked this summer when I T-boned an F-150 that ran a stop sign. Frame bent and the door got into the fender, then I stupidly forced it open to get out. If I had been thinking clearly I would have gotten out the passenger side and only needed a little touch up paint
I had the bumper, and it is scarred up now and I had to straighten its mounting brackets along with the frame. The F150 was totaled, but luckily nobody was hurt.
I just looked in my Crash Book and 1999 thru 2004 all take the same front doors, regardless whether they have power or manual windows. Maybe there was a difference in the original factory installed doors, but the replacements are all the same. Only Excursions came with the optional keypad---I don't think any 99-04 superduties had a keypad from the factory.
I would say that all the stamped out holes that you will need to swap all your parts should be the same also. You will more than likely only need to replace with your regulator and motor/wires. The rest should be the same. Even the glass will have the same attachment points. (but I see that you have yours tinted, so you will be swapping that out. To remove the glass, loosen the bolts that hold the rails in place on the sides of the glass, and the bottom bolts that hold it to the regulator.
In fact I think I have photos and a bit of a write up in my gallery, for a previous mishap someone else had, so I did a write up to help him do the glass swap himself.
Let us know how it goes.
I upgraded my manual windows to power and did not have to change anything in the door structure. I just bolted in the power window regulators and added wiring with the power window type door panels.
I get stuff from G&R auto wrecking in Independence. They are great guys. 503.606.3540.
