I have been reading about this and this happened to me after installing the factory alum wheels. I had no warning then my wheel came off at 70 mph all the studs were broken checked the other wheels and they were loose. I have them torqued now and check them on a regular basis.

I recall reading a few lost tire threads here in the past. Especially with aftermarket wheels. I now check truck and trailer b4 hauling and truck only once in a while. I do occasionally find one that is slightly loose. Everyone should check their nuts or have someone do it for them.

Happened to me once as well. Did you check the studs at their shear point? 2 of the 4 of mine that sheared had a bad cast with no contact in the middle of the stud. I'm guessing that those 2 broke and the other 2 gave out under the increased stress. And no curbs or moose contact here. Mine gave out after over 4,000 miles were put on the truck after a front brake job.
