grease

Hey I have my 89 ford 7.3 and was wanting to run grease, do yall have any ideas as to how my engine will handle it, and also where to get or how to make a tank heater?
Thanks,
Devin

You should check out the bio and alterative fuels furom for a lot of good info. It is in the same forum block as this forum just up from the bottom. Fabman and the others there can get you on the right track so you can do it right and be happy with the system you decide to run.

I have maybe 2000 miles on WVO over the past two years. Really dont drive my truck a whole lot. What I did was put a heat exchanger between the fuel tanks and the filter. My reasoning for this was the running the diesel through the heat exchanger would heat the whole system up so you are not running warm WVO into a cold fuel delivery system. It takes a few minutes to switch fuels cause it has to fill the filter and then the IP but so far has worked great. And yes it does mix WVO and fuel but I always throw a little WVO into my tank when I put diesel into it. So far no I haven't noticed any problems or sludging of the oil but that isn't to say it is not happening. There are better ways of doing it but since I have a spare engine around I am not concerned about it.

real basic rule

if you want to keep it running don't introduce stright veggie oil that isn't heated to at least 160 before it gets to the injection pump, it will cause you problems sonner or later if you do.

on the other biodiesel requires nothing but high quality return lines and a close eye on the weather report in winter.

so do you want to run grease to keep some of your fuel money outa the hands of the arabs and exxon
or do you have a free/cheap supply of waste veggie oil?

btw you might try the alternative diesel feuls folks one door down it ain't lively in there but they do answer questions eventualy
