351m compression problems?

351m compression problems?
i'm new to this site so,hello, great forum, alot of helpful info & nice classic trucks.i have a 1970 f-100 short stepside with a 78 351m. the engine ran when i stored it a couple of years ago & i am now able to try to get it back on the road & i am getting fire @ the plugs & gas to the intake but it will not start. someone said it might be the compression. is there some way to check or get enough compression to get it started so i can check it? or am i way off base. thank you for any help you can give me.

Hello, It takes two things to run these old trucks gas & fire. If you have both it should run.
Did you dump the gas and put in fresh? If it was running when parked the compression shouldn't be an issue, I wouldn't think.
I'm sure some better ideas will be along shortly.
