I have an 01' Ex that is bone stock as far as i can tell with the exception of Bilstein shocks and a rear sway bar. I bought a 33' 7000 lb TT and your standard weight distributing hit. Towing was a nightmare in anything but calm weather and empty highways. Oscillating sway wasn't an issue but a gust of wind would push the trailer around and the truck went along for the ride. Semis blasting past me was a white knuckle experience. A pair blasting by on either side was brown trousers time.
After that first trip I added a standard friction type sway control. Handling was much better but big winds could still scoot me around. Semis weren't near as bad except for one. A big truck pulling a double drop deck trailer with some various types of boxed equipment on it damn near picked me up and tossed me in the ditch. It was so unexpected it scared the beejeezus out of me.
Got back home, fired up craigslist and bought a hensley arrow. Rock solid on the highway now. Except for the feel of the weight behind me I wouldn't even know I was pulling a trailer. I'm not sure if the stability is due to the design, or the shear weight of that beast of a hitch. In any case I'm sold. I also like the fact that the hitch can stay attached to the trailer when you drop it. It would be tough to cough up the coin for a new one, but there seemed to be plenty of used scattered about the lower 48 and I lucked out and found one about an hour away and a bit over $1k with some bonus accessories. I'm happy with the setup.
Pulled with the Propride hitch. That made a significant difference. I will install Timbrens this week sometime to level it out. We will see then if I can tune it. I think I had too much toungue weight/back end weight, so its almost time to go to the scales once getting that stuff installed. Then I will go to the front end guy and have him check everything including rubber bushings...
Thats all I can think of for now. I believe I will get it. with the propride, when you corner and brake, it pushes the butt around, so I need to stiffen the rear end a bit..
Do people sell polyurethane bushings for the leafs? i remember back in the day it helped my car from hopping alot.

That Propride hitch is one of the best there is. Can't believe you didn't have any luck with the RAS. That was one of my biggest improvements. If you don't have a rear sway bar you really need one. Don't believe Timbrens will solve your problem. Go to RV.net, lots of very knowledgeable people over there. Also if you can talk to Xhemi guy Joe, he's the man! Good luck, John

I work with Xhemi. I have the sway bar too. the ras jacked my rear end too much and made the caster get worse, making it harder to drive. The timbrens will lock the axle a little bit and raise it under load. I plan to add the RASs back with a reduced spring load at some point. I want to make sure the bushings in the rear end are good though. I have also put front ball joints in. My steering is abit loose too, so I will keep tweaking it. I can now tow with the propride hitch at least, without white knuckles. It sways a bit but its a slow soft sway. I will add back some tire pressure and see if that helps, and add some shock value to the Rancho 9000s
