My truck has this "tick" in the steering wheel. Dont have any specific time to do it, but notice it more in wind. Dont do it more or less over bumps, or smooth road. It could do it on a smooth road and when I get in bumps it may stop, though the truck does feel unstable on bumps and in wind. Last year I changed the upper/lower ball joints, inner tie rod ends, all 4 shocks and sway bar end links. The new end links arent looking to good either, not really worn, the bushings are still there but the end link looks like it could use some tightining up, but I figure if I am going to mess with it again I just assume put a new set on. I just replaced tires about a week ago thinking one of the tires were bad but it still does it. Just replaced the rear shoes and drums and probably have a warped rotor from the problem that was taking place back there. I checked out the tie rod ends and ball joints and there is no play in those. Would a warped rotor or the sway bar links cause this? Truck is a 97 F-150 2WD with M5OD.

Warped rotor would show up under braking. You would definatley feel a pronounced shudder when you hit the brakes if it was warped enough to make a wobble under normak driving. Not sure about the sway bars though, sorry.
When you say end link, is this the tie rod end. This would also cause an unstable steer.
No, not the tie rod ends. The link that connects the sway bar to the frame. Here is a picture one, circled in red. I will end up changing the inner tie rod ends before I get a new alignment just to get it out the way, but I am almost positive that its not them, but you know how almost only counts in sports and dog doo.

I just went to Advance Auto and they didnt have the end link kit so I just bought the bushings and replaced them. I noticed that the steering is a little tighter and the wobble is still there but not as pronounced. I cant tell if it is the truck or the road, my wifes car has the same kind of wobble on the same road just not as pronounced. Nevertheless, I will replace the inner tie rod ends and get an alignment in the next 2 or 3 weeks just to be sure. Maybe I am just paranoid and expected the new tires to make the truck ride better, all of this was happening with the old tires on, I just didnt start to pay attention to it till I started thinking about getting new tires.
Check the front wheel bearing for wear. If the tie rod end have no play (wear) they should be fine.
The bearings are okay, I have my mechanic repack them every so often and last time he did it was about a month ago and they were okay than, I also jacked the truck up to check out the tie rod ends and ball joints and I cant move the tire from top to bottom at all.
Check the bushing on the arm links for play and wear, tighten down the nut and bolt at those links. It might help a bit more. The new end links could be tighten down a bit more, the bushings on picture don't seem compressed enough.
That pic. is one I borrowed off the internet, the ones on my truck are compressed. I am tired of playing this damn wobble, wobble shake it, shake it game so I brought the truck to the shop and am replacing the inner tie rod ends and anything else that may look questionable under there. Everything else has been changed and carries a lifetime warranty, so we will see when I get it back all aligned and new. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
Have them check the track arm bushings and torsoin rods.
I have seen where the bolt which holds the bushing, wear and creates suspension play, usually where the IFS pivots.
Got truck back yesterday, new inner tie rod ends installed and nothing else wore out or out of place. The factory inner tie rod ends were still in great shape but I had them changed out anyway cause I already bought them and dont feel like dealing with it later. Anyway, after tie rod ends and alignment the truck handles and rides better than I have ever felt in my time owning it, no shakes or wobbles.
