just looking around my truck today for some reason and ive mustve over looked this before. im not sure what it is. it looks like a factory wire harness on it, but am not 100%. wires lead to a big strand of wires that are wrapped up in the plastic tubing and black tape. so not sure where they went from there

I don't think that's factory...
Probably somethin' a previous owner did.
I doubt Ford would use Black Electrical Tape to hold a strand of wires together...

hahaha i mean it looks like a factory wiring harness that its going into because it seems like all those wires under neith are bound up in it. but, i could be mistaken. i was thinking maybe some sort of cig lighter bc i dont have one in the hole thats made for it. but doesnt seem big enough or even look like one....

and for the steering shaft zip ties, now i know who did those

Well, that's the rough location where a lot of guys will set up their trailer brake control boxes, but that doesn't look like what it is... maybe it was a clip or holder for some weird tubular-type trailer wiring setup?

Oh, I know of that light bulb socket well. Long legs and an open light bulb socket like that makes for a lot of *Crunch* "Oh no! Not again!" moments.

That's why I just left mine out when rewiring my truck.

thats cool. i do have a glove box light and dome light and cargo light--the switch is above my head on the left. and i just got the dome light working by replacing the fuse, and then come to find out i have a glove box light haha. but, no light under the hood. and i dont have an ashtray in it--didnt when i got the truck. so, in that location of that light, is that where it should be??

That looks like it is the stock location of that light. I think there should also be another light on the passenger side.

Yes there would be one on the passenger side too. I just added this upgrade to my dent this past year. Its really nice to have the extra light at night when you open the doors.

And Anthony, all of those holes in that dash look factory, except the one with he rust around it.
