Hey guys
I have a 78' F-350 flatbed dually and am thinking about what it might take (if possible) to shorten the frame to accommodate a short bed, it currently has a flat bed.
The plan is to get some dimensions from a short wheelbase, take some pics of it and scope out the frame of my 350 then give it a shot, I will probably eliminate the
dually s also.
Or, would it seem better to just get a SWB frame, beef it up and go that route ? I just like the stance of it with all 350 suspension.
My biggest concern is re-connecting the sections so they will be strong enough, any suggestions?
There is a pic of the victim in my gallery if interested, i just want something boss, neat and different.
Thanks. Howard
move your rear axle forward to swb specs and cut off the back of the frame. No splicing required. Or talk to a heavy truck shop. They shorten or stretch frames all the time. Generally you would find a staight flat section of fame, make a Z cut, weld back together, and fish plate it. You could also box th frame to make it stronger.
