Hello all
I have a 76 f250 lowboy that i want to lift up 4 inches wondering if the 77-79 kit will work or will i have to get one for the 76 and where is the best place to get a lift having issues finding a lift
thankyou all
If you have a 76 f250 then you do not have a lowboy, and unless someone changed the front springs you should be able to clear a decent tire.
Unfortunately you will not be able to use the 78/9 lift kit because the rear leafs are a different width.
In addition to this the front of a highboy is approx 4 inches higher than the 78/9 truck so if you order 4" lift springs for the 78/9 truck and put them on your 76, you might not achieve any lift at all.
How large of a tire do you want to put under the truck?
i just sold a brand new 4" complete skyjacker lift kit for a 67-77 f250 for 600 bucks about 3 weeks ago. had everything, all 4 springs, bushings, shocks, u-bolts and a 3" steering block. paid almost 1350 bucks for everything lol.
Yea Mike I called you about it and the tires, wish the lift would of worked. Still have the tires? I'm still in the market when I get off the road in a few weeks.
I said "kid" cause everyone seems younger than my old ****, no offense.
lol its all good. but no on the tires, i sold them a week before i sold the lift kit. hope you find some tires though, they are usually on there pretty cheap.
52: rear chevy springs are almost a bolt in deal.
You can buy front Super Duty leafs for something dumb like 150 bucks each, and probably fiind chevy rears for the same or less. Thats brand new, Im sure one could find used stuff on the cheap.
Just gotta look.
SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT
SUPER DUTY SPRINGS FOR THE FRONT WILL WORK DO I NEED FOR A LIFT OR STOCK? AND THE REAR CHEVY SPRINGS WHAT YEAR AND ALSO WITH LIFT OR NOT I LIVE IN WEST MICHIGAN NEAR THE DUNES WANT TO RUN 35 INCH TIRES AND MY TRUCK WONT CLEAR THEM NOW
THANX FOR ALL THE HELP
LESTER
Now we know what size tires you intend to run so that variable is taken car of, but this also adds a bit of confusion.
The stock 76 F250 4x4 should clear 35's with ease.
Any pics of your truck? intersted in some pics of the springs on it now.
i can take some pic i think someone has done some changing around on my truck i just purchases it and it is titled as a 78 but has power assist steering and a date code on the transfer case of 4- 76 so wondering if it has the 78 79 axles and springs because it doesn't look like it has highboy heighth
Measure the width of the rear spring pack anywhere. 2" 1/2 wide is 70 ish thru 77.5 and divorced xfer case and front frame rail cross member (it can be seen under the front bumper).
Cab or saddle tank, rear frame width narrower on HB so no aft tank. ALL THESE STATEMENTS ARE NOT LAW, JUST WHAT I UNDERSTAND.
I do not want to get flamed by anyone. Once you measure your rear springs you can just order the appropriate kit.
Or just listen to 75F350's build up advise and do it right.
I just measured the springs 2 1/2 rear width and 3 inches front tank is behind the seat and i don't understand hb and where do you want me to measure the frame width and it has a divorced transfer case
No need to measure the frame, sounds like you have a true HB (High Boy) with the rear spring width measurement. Keep in mind high boy is only a FTE term, not FOMOCO.
You will have to order a kit that will fit a 73-76 if you go that route. Make sure you ask what ever company you order from to ck the rear spring width.
You can order a front spring only kit or a complete 4 spring kit. A pretty easy way to determine if someone has changed your front springs is to count the leaves.
HB had 6 leaves, and 78/79 had 2 leaves, hang in there with it all.
